A first responder certification is a credential that confirms an individual is trained to provide immediate care in emergencies, including basic life support, safety procedures, and crisis response.

In dementia care settings, it may also include training on how to safely assist people living with dementia during emergencies and high-risk situations.

First responder training typically takes a few hours to a couple of days to complete, depending on the program and level of certification. Basic courses can often be finished in one day, while more advanced training may extend over multiple sessions.
